BEHIND THE SHOT
This is one of several shots used in a documentary about Karen. I used to carry a prism filter in my camera case and would occasionally pull it out at concerts to see what I could get--just to try something different. I loved how it worked out for this shot!
This particular evening it was Richard Carpenter's Birthday. Karen led the audience in singing "Happy Birthday" as she presented him with a cake.
Steve Martin opened for The Carpenters that night. Their show kind of came off like a TV variety show from that era.
...and Karen's voice was unbelievable!!
