About the Artist
David Stratford
As a high school senior in 1973, I started photographing rock concerts in Southern California as a hobby. I never had a photo pass, or even my own camera, and had to sneak/battle my way up to the front at these shows to take the photographs you're seeing now. In 2.5 years, I ended up taking over 10,000 shots (developing the film at home in my bathtub), of some of the most iconic performers during the greatest live concert era of Rock.
In recent years I’ve pulled out the boxes of developed film, scanning and posting images on my Instagram account and now taking some of the images a bit further, digitally into the pop art realm
My love of music and photography are deeply personal to me, as my mother was a music teacher, while my mentor (Vietnam vet and photography teacher) Skip helped refine my skills.
While I was just a kid with a camera at the time, I hope to share this love with you through the photos, works, and stories you're seeing on this website, which I'm always striving to improve, and add to.
